Casgliad o Luniau Arosgo Arfordirol y Llu Awyr - Trysorau O’n Harchif

Lluniau ‘fertigol’ yw’r rhan fwyaf o’r awyrluniau hanesyddol yng nghasgliad y Llu Awyr Brenhinol (wedi’u tynnu rhwng 1945 a 1965) yn y Cofnod Henebion Cenedlaethol. Cawsant eu tynnu o awyren a oedd yn hedfan ar gryn uchder, ac mae’r camera yn edrych yn syth i lawr ar y ddaear islaw. Serch hynny, mae yna gasgliad bach o luniau ‘arosgo’, lle mae’r awyren yn hedfan yn weddol isel a’r camera wedi’i leoli i edrych allan drwy ochr yr awyren ac ar ongl tuag at y ddaear.

Yn ystod  rhan olaf y 1950au, ymgymerodd y Llu Awyr ag arolygon ffotograffig o’r awyr o arfordir y wlad. Mae’r casgliad o ddelweddau a ffurfiwyd o ganlyniad yn gofnod hynod bwysig o’r dirwedd. Pan gânt eu hastudio ochr yn ochr â lluniau modern o’r un ardaloedd, gallant ddatgelu newidiadau cynnil yn yr amgylchedd, ond hefyd ddangos nad yw rhai pethau wedi newid o gwbl bron.

Aberystwyth 1959, DI2013_5004

Aberystwyth 2006, AP_2006_2559

Golygon cyffelyb o Gastell Aberystwyth yw’r ddau ffotograff uchod. Un o luniau’r Llu Awyr yw’r cyntaf, a dynnwyd ym mis Awst 1959, a chafodd y llun lliw (AP_2006_2559) ei dynnu gan Staff Ffotograffiaeth o’r Awyr CBHC ym mis Gorffennaf 2006.

Mae printiau o gasgliad lluniau arosgo arfordirol y Llu Awyr yn cael eu digido ar hyn o bryd fel rhan o raglen dreigl, a byddant ar gael ar-lein drwy Coflein.

Gellir gweld y casgliadau hyn yn ein Hystafell Chwilio a Llyfrgell yn ystod oriau agor arferol. Os hoffech weld yr amrywiaeth lawn o awyrluniau ar gyfer unrhyw ardal benodol fe’ch cynghorir i wneud apwyntiad.

Dewch i ddarganfod mwy yn ystod Diwrnod Ymwybyddiaeth o’r Archif y Comisiwn Brenhinol ar 12 Tachwedd, 2014 – diwrnod o sgyrsiau a theithiau. Agored i bawb!

Trysorau O’n Harchif

A wyddech chi? Mae Cofnod Henebion Cenedlaethol Cymru, archif y Comisiwn Brenhinol, yn gartref i:
Mwy na miliwn o gofnodion ffotograffig
Mwy na 330 metr ciwbig o le storio archifau
Mwy na 102,000 o gofnodion digidol, y mae’r mwyafrif ohonynt ar gael ar-lein
Mwy na 70,000 o gynlluniau, lluniadau a delweddau graffig eraill

Cofnod Henebion Cenedlaethol Cymru

Mae mwy na chanrif o arolygu, cofnodi a chasglu wedi arwain at greu archif unigryw sy’n adrodd hanes y newidiadau mawr yn nhirwedd hanesyddol Cymru. Mae’n cynnwys deunydd ar bob agwedd ar hanes archaeolegol, pensaernïol, eglwysig, diwydiannol, amddiffynnol ac arforol y wlad.
Ai dyma ‘hunan-lun’ cyntaf Cymru? Enghraifft o un o’r ffotograffau mwy anarferol yn ein harchif: defnyddiodd Isaac Hayley, diwydiannwr a ffotograffydd amatur brwd, wardrob gyda drych fel y gallai dynnu llun o’i adlewyrchiad ei hun ym mhlasty Glan-brân yn Sir Gâr oddeutu 1900.

Dewch i ddarganfod mwy yn ystod Diwrnod Ymwybyddiaeth o’r Archif y Comisiwn Brenhinol ar 12 Tachwedd, 2014 – diwrnod o sgyrsiau a theithiau. Agored i bawb!

Porth Eirias Watersports Centre provides venue for 6th annual MOROL conference

The Royal Commission stand in the foyer of Porth Eirias Watersports Centre, where visitors had opportunities to pick up information leaflets and booklets such as Cadw’s ‘Caring for Coastal Heritage’.

On Saturday 1 November, the Royal Commission and Welsh Archaeological Trusts joined Welsh maritime history enthusiasts for the annual MOROL (Institute of Welsh Maritime Historical Studies) conference.  The foyer of the centre provided exhibition space for local organisations, such as the proposed new Ship’s Timbers Maritime Museum for Llandudno; the publisher of many books on Welsh maritime themes, Gwasg Carreg Gwalch; along with the Royal Commission’s own stand.

Speakers for the morning session included Dr Gary Robinson from Bangor University, describing the earliest boats that may have been used along the north Wales coast; John Coppack presenting fascinating aspects of Connah’s Quay’s maritime history (including his own family’s distinguished ship owning past); Judith Samuel providing new insights into the history of Foryd Harbour’s famous shipwreck, the CITY OF OTTAWA; and Ifor Williams introducing the Welsh Placename Society’s Coastal Placenames Project,  which is beginning to explore the origin of names such as ‘Coffee Bay’ on the Menai Straits.

Exposed by the winter storms of 2013-14 - the wreck of the Wexford registered schooner ROVER, lost 8 December 1886, being recorded by Nautical Archaeology Society Volunteers Rhys Pockett and Matt Cass (image courtesy of  Malvern Archaeological Diving Unit).

In the afternoon, I joined Paul Huckfield, (GGAT), James Meeks, (DAT) and Andrew Davidson, (GAT) at the table to provide a short overview of the shipwrecks and other archaeological sites, which had been exposed by coastal erosion last winter. These include the walkway discovered at Borth and shipwreck sites recorded by Nautical Archaeology Society volunteers.

The round table sharing of ongoing maritime projects provided also an opportunity to touch on the learning resource created for the Great Storm of 1859 (Royal Charter Gale), by a partnership project between the Royal Commission and Cadw.

It was a really interesting day. There is a great deal of maritime research going on all around the coast.  Dr Gary Robinson reminded me of the many aspects of human history that have come together to form the seascapes we know and love today…. The CITY OF OTTAWA is the subject of a new book by Judith Samuels and there were parts of the ship’s history that I heard for the first time…. I particularly loved hearing about Connah’s Quay’s maritime history from a descendant of one of the River Dee’s great ship-owning families, J. Coppack & Son…. also hearing about the development at local maritime museums such as the reopening of the Llyn Maritime Museum, Nefyn….

The exhibitions are continuing at the Watersports Centre until the new year, so many more people will be able to discover aspects of their local maritime past.

Gorffennol Digidol 2015

Gorffennol Digidol 2015
Technolegau newydd ym meysydd treftadaeth, dehongli ac estyn-allan

11 a 12 Chwefror 2015
Neudd Brangwyn, Neuadd y Ddinas, Abertawe

Cynhadledd ddau ddiwrnod flynyddol wedi’i threfnu gan Gomisiwn Brenhinol Henebion Cymru sy’n canolbwyntio ar dechnolegau a thechnegau digidol arloesol ar gyfer cipio data, dehongli a lledaenu gwybodaeth am dreftadaeth Cymru, y DU a thu hwnt yw Gorffennol Digidol. Mae’n dwyn ynghyd unigolion o’r sectorau masnachol, cyhoeddus, academaidd a gwirfoddol, ac o’r trydydd sector, a’i nod yw hybu trafodaeth a gwybodaeth am y technolegau digidol sy’n cael eu defnyddio ar hyn o bryd, neu sy’n cael eu datblygu, i gofnodi a deall yr amgylchedd hanesyddol.

Cynigir cyfuniad o gyflwyniadau, sesiynau seminar a gweithdai ac arddangosiadau ymarferol i’r cynadleddwyr mewn awyrgylch cyfeillgar ac anffurfiol a’r nod yw hybu rhwydweithio a chyfnewid syniadau. Darperir ‘sesiynau anghynhadledd’ yn ystod y prynhawn cyntaf, i roi cyfle i gynadleddwyr nad ydynt ar yr amserlen ffurfiol wneud cyflwyniadau ar brosiectau, ymchwil, syniadau neu faterion sy’n cyd-fynd neu ddim yn cyd-fynd â themâu’r digwyddiad eleni. Bydd stondinau Arddangosfa a Phoster hefyd yn rhoi cyfle i arddangos prosiectau neu gynhyrchion ac i siarad â chyrff treftadaeth, cymdeithasau, prifysgolion, datblygwyr cynhyrchion ac adwerthwyr.

Bydd cynhadledd Gorffennol Digidol 2015 yn cael ei chynnal yn ninas Abertawe. Cynhelir y digwyddiad yn adeiladau ysblennydd Neuadd y Ddinas sy’n cynnwys Neuadd Brangwyn, Neuadd Siôr ac Ystafell yr Arglwydd Faer.

Y themâu eleni yw ‘Treftadaeth Weledol’ a ‘Archaeoleg Gyhoeddus a Chymunedol Ddigidol’.
